Residents
DBHA is committed to addressing the needs of its residents and providing more effective services in order to increase their potential for long-term economic success and a sustained high quality of life.
Affordable Housing
The Daytona Beach Housing Authority is one of the finest public housing agencies in the nation. It serves more than 1,700 low-income public housing households, providing safe, decent and affordable housing in healthy, vibrant communities. Public housing provides homes for families, the elderly and those with disabilities from scattered single family houses to apartments for elderly families. The DBAH completed its awarded Hope VI project in 2009. It is currently in the process of entering the final third phase of its Villages of Halifax project. The 80 public housing units will continue to provide residents a firm foundation on their road to self-sufficiency.
Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program
DBHA’s Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program allows low-income families to rent quality housing in the private market via federal funds provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Through the HCV Program, DBHA pays a portion of eligible families’ rent each month directly to the landlord. Families can use their vouchers to rent a house or apartment in the private market throughout the city of Chicago. Because there are more families who need rental assistance than there are funds available, DBHA uses a waiting list to administer the program to eligible families.
Mixed Income
Services
One of the Daytona Beach Housing Authority’s primary goals is to help public housing residents and families on their road toward self-sufficiency to become an integral part of the fabric of Daytona Beach. The DBHA offers a range of federally-funded subsidies for low-income families, including traditional public housing, the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program and services for residents, including employment training, retention assistance, child care programs, scholarships and other key services.
